From the high rise of water to the low rise, intertidal habitats can become whole new worlds just from the tide being high or low. Almost every ocean shore has an intertidal habitat full of small animals who strive in their safe close to shore habitats. Most organisms will tend to shut themselves off or move to moist areas in these habitats. Osmoconformers are mostly seen in these intertidal habitats, they change themselves when the water level is changing. The water in the intertidal habitats doesn't only serve the purpose of keeping these organisms moist and alive. Most organisms filter feed through the water. When these organisms are unable to filter feed the water it throws a disruption of the organism's distribution to the intertidal habitats.
